Thank You, Next! How to Live a Life of Exceptional Expectation
The key to receiving your next is to be thankful for what’s now. In this episode, we’re discussing how to live a life of expectation for what’s next and appreciation for what’s now. Do you find yourself asking why this or why me? Today, I want to challenge you to ask yourself what you could be thankful for in that same moment. I’m overflowing with gratitude to be here with you all, especially after a wonderful Thanksgiving. I hope your hearts, like mine, are brimming with thankfulness. Today, we discuss the power of gratitude and how it shapes our lives, drawing inspiration from the phrase “being thankful.”
My focus today is on living with exceptional expectations. We often find ourselves eagerly anticipating the “next” big thing in our lives, always looking forward. While it’s great to look forward, I believe the key to truly enjoying and receiving our “next” is to develop an attitude of gratitude. This might sound cliché, but I assure you, it’s transformative.
I shared a personal story about a house we wanted to buy years ago. Despite our prayers and hopes, we didn’t get it. At the time, I was deeply disappointed. However, later we found a house that was even better – more spacious, in a great neighborhood, and within our budget. This experience taught me a profound lesson: sometimes, a “no” leads to a better “yes.”
The Principle of Thankful Living
- Thankful for the Now: Embrace where you are at this moment. Appreciate your current situation without always fixating on the future.
- Thankful for the No’s: Understand that when things don’t go as planned, it might be for the best. A “no” can be a redirection to something greater.
- Thankful for the Next: Look forward to the future with hope and faith, believing that the best is yet to come.
Scriptural Reference
1 Thessalonians 5:18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
Through this scripture, we’re reminded to “be thankful in all circumstances.” This doesn’t mean we celebrate hardships, but rather we find something to be thankful for even in difficult times.
