The Key to Producing Fruit in Your Life
I’m not much of a gardener, but I do know that producing fruit is the goal of every fruit farmer. It’s the same in life. All of us want to be producing fruit in our homes, businesses and relationships. God uses nature in so many ways to teach us universal principles. If we would pay attention and learn, we could become more fruitful in many areas of our lives.
Producing Fruit is Not a Mystery
Whenever I’m at a place where I don’t feel I’m producing any fruit, I immediately look to see if I’m properly connected to the source. For example, I pay my electric bill every month. Therefore, when I go into a room in my house and flip on the light, I expect something to happen. If nothing does, I will make sure the light is connected to the power source. It would be silly of me to get upset at the light not working if it’s not plugged in!
Sadly, that’s how some of us operate at times. We look at “producing fruit” in our lives as a natural expectation, even if we know we’re not properly connected to the Source. Yes, there are many promises in the Bible, but most of those promises have conditions attached.
“Abide in me, and I will abide in you. Just as the branch cannot produce fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me” (John 15.4, ISV, emphasis added).
So we see that if we are to produce the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, goodness, gentleness and self-control) in our lives, we must remain connected to the source.
Producing Fruit Spiritually is the Same in Other Realms
Being in business is like a roller coaster. Sometimes you’re up, sometimes you’re down. And sometimes your head is spinning around and around (Like my rhyme? :-)). I am just emerging out of a dry season in my business. I’ve looked around and have seen others quitting, becoming discouraging and losing heart. What makes me different? I understand the power of plugging into the source (or in this case, system). The same principle Jesus spoke of earlier applies. We cannot produce fruit if we are detached from the life source.
So be it your business, your family or your education, stay connected to the source. Learn what you must. Let go of what you need to let go of and watch yourself begin producing some beautiful fruit!
What about you? Have you gone through a dry spell in your relationships or business? What have you learned about the power of staying connecting and producing fruit in your life?
